The brand will continue to develop the new concept with openings in Seoul, Munich and Stockholm.
Italian premium menswear brand Stone Island has opened a store in a new retail concept in Chicago. The project was created in collaboration with studio OMA/AMO.
According to the concept presented, the new monostore is intended to be not only a place to sell, but also a hub for the local community, a platform for sharing experiences and showcasing the brand's latest achievements.
"Research and innovation are the core of Stone Island. The space, materiality, and program of the stores underpin the brand’s ethos, and reinforce a sense of belonging of its community of like-minded people," AMO commented.
The new Stone Island store features special spaces that emphasize the brand's commitment to technology and development. The monostore spaces also house the brand's archival models and prototypes. The design of the store is based on the company's commitment to transforming materials from typical to unique.
Specially treated materials reminiscent of natural stone are used extensively in the interior. Panels are created from shredded paper and resin, as well as sand-coated treated cork. An all-digital chandelier graces the ceiling of the store, broadcasting the brand's messages to the community.
"Stone Island and AMO share values of innovation, functionality, and passion. I am happy to begin this important partnership, a new visual approach for our stores, to speak to our communities," commented Stone Island creative director and president Carlo Rivetti.
The new Stone Island store has a total footprint of approximately 2000 sq. ft. The brand will continue to develop the new concept with openings in Seoul, Munich and Stockholm.
