According to Rosalind Brewer, Managing Director of Starbucks, 4,000 new Mastrena II coffee machines will be equipped in 2020. Starbucks promises to switch to such equipment in the future entirely. The first samples of coffee machines with artificial intelligence were presented to Starbucks in March 2019, and judging by the fact that the company is actively expanding this area, the first experience of their use was more than successful.

The first markets in which the Starbucks network plans to transition to new coffee machines will be the USA and Canada. In these countries, it is expected to replace all equipment by 2022. In the future, new technologies will be applied in all coffee houses of the brand.  

The company named its development in the field of artificial intelligence Deep Brew, and the new coffee machines are one of its applications, but not the only one. The advantage of the new coffee machines is that they will be able to collect information about the operation of the equipment and consumption of materials with the help of built-in sensors. Such data will help to conduct more efficient repair and maintenance of coffee machines, to manage the assortment and replenish the stock.

An essential advantage of Mastrena II is that they will be able to prepare some basic drinks much faster, which will help to significantly reduce queues and have a positive impact on customer loyalty. 

Starbucks has always strived to use the latest technology in its work and developments in the field of artificial intelligence, the most relevant in the world today is no exception. Besides using it in coffee machines, Deep Brew also helps to optimize logistics, labor distribution, store inventory management, etc.
