The store at City Point became the 416th in the retailer's global network.
International fashion retailer Primark, specializing in making and selling low-priced clothing, has opened a new store in New York City. The Outlet is located at City Point, a mixed-use multi-building residential and commercial complex in Downtown Brooklyn.
The nearly 50,000-square-foot store, which opened to coincide with the U.S. holiday shopping season, features expanded collections of clothing, footwear, accessories, and home goods and gifts at affordable prices.
The Primark in New York was the second opening in addition to the retailer's three existing stores. A little earlier was the opening of Primark on Fulton Street. The total number of Primark outlets in the U.S. has reached 16. Earlier, the company said that by 2026 the retail chain would grow to 60 stores.
Primark said the decision to open new stores followed the good financial performance of the first four stores. The company calls itself one of the price leaders in the market.
Experts point out that in New York, one of the most expensive cities in the world, there is still a high demand for budget shopping. For example, hundreds of people stood in line to store before Primark opened on Long Island and in Queens.
