A unique retail mall is being planned for the northern half of the Seasons of Tuxedo development based in southwest Winnipeg.
The Outlets of Seasons section will be erected on a 47.3 hectare site located north of the existing development. It will include an 11-hectare residential section.
The main feature of this project is the centrepiece described as ‘Manitoba’s first and only premier fashion outlet centre.
The centre will be developed, managed and leased by Ivanhoe Cambridge, a real estate company. Fashion outlet centres are a relatively new concept in Canada, but form a growing and active part of the retail market in the U.S.
The centre will include in excess of 90 retailers with offerings of brand-name fashion items featuring discounts of around 75% off the suggested retail prices.
The two partners who were involved in the development of the southern half of the development were expected to develop the northern section. However Forster Projects and Harvard Developments purchased the site from them.
Harvard Properties has been a massive player in the Alberta and Saskatchewan property markets, but this is its first Manitoba development.
