Italy Shuts all Non-food Stores

The retail industry in Italy will suffer significant losses in 2020. Today it became known that the authorities have decided to close all shops except grocery stores. Pharmacies are also continuing their work. Cafes, bars, and restaurants have switched to a policy where food can be ordered only with home delivery. 

According to Giuseppe Conte, Prime Minister of Italy, transportation within the country will not be suspended. Banks, insurance companies, and other organizations will also remain open. Industry and agriculture in the country will function in the working schedule. At the same time, entertainment, cultural, and educational institutions are already closed.

Italian Designer Outlets, namely Serravalle, Barberino, Castel Romano, La Reggie, Noventa di Piave, are temporarily closed from March 12, 2020.

Thus, the retail sector will be one of the most affected by the strict quarantine measures in Italy, which have been in force since March 10. The population of the State was advised not to move without good reason and to keep a distance of at least one meter. The business owners received a recommendation to transfer employees to remote work. To date, over 10 thousand cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Italy.
