Decathlon launches rental service in UK

Initially, the sporting goods rental program appeared in stores in London, Glasgow, Poole and Southampton.

Sports retailer Decathlon has announced the launch of an equipment rental program across all stores in the UK. The volume of investments in the project's development amounted to 1 million pounds.



After completing a test period that began in 2022, the sports giant has rolled out a nationwide rental system. Bicycles, kayaks, tennis rackets, kayaks, paddle boards and other goods are offered to customers.

Initially, the sporting goods rental program appeared in stores in London, Glasgow, Poole and Southampton. Decathlon operates the service through its Second Life program, which provides product repair and maintenance.

The company said the new initiative aims to "make the joy of sports more accessible to people by allowing them to purchase something new at a fraction of the retail price."

“Despite the desire to play sports, buying equipment is one of the biggest hurdles for people doing something new. Rentals gives customers across the UK the opportunity to overcome this challenge by discovering the joy of various activities at an affordable price and in an environmentally friendly way ", - commented the head of the department for sustainable development of the company Chris Allen.
