Campbelltown Mall is celebrating its 30th birthday on July 30.
Shop owners and staff have reflected on their best memories of the centre. A&A Poultry’s Abdullah Kadir, who has been in the mall for many years, says that despite price increases, chicken breasts cost less than it was 30 years ago, The Daily Telegraph says.
The mall was opened during July 1984. Debbie Quinton fr om Kmart says that she remembers the opening day as it was an exciting time for the residents in the town. She was excited about the super Kmart wh ere she had a coffee on the opening day. Over the years the centre has expanded and there have been several redevelopments. It is now a convenient, clean, safe centre. The needs and wants of consumers are at the top of the list and this is being proven by the launch of the first ALDI store in the Macarthur region’s shopping centres.
The centre is three weeks from unveiling the upgraded fresh food precinct and the new ALDI store. The centre currently houses Coles and Woolworths, with seven specialty fresh food stores, including Green Valley Herbs and Spices, VHN Asian Supermarket, Filled with Fruit and Deli, Campbelltown Fish Market, Bakers Delight, A & A Poultry and Farm Fresh Meats and Deli.
