Baybrook Mall is getting ready for a massive expansion, with the addition of 10 restaurants, 30 retailers and hospitality and entertainment venues.
The multimillion dollar project is due to add around 555000ft² to the existing 1.23m sq ft mall, which is located at 500 Baybrook Mall, off Interstate 45. Work commenced during May and completion is being planned for the holiday season in 2015. A single-level parking deck will be added. A grassy lawn area will be placed in a strategic area to act as a gathering venue for visitors. The new design of the center will enable customers to walk from one store to the next in an open environment.
The mall is owned and managed by General Growth Properties and the expansion project is being undertaken in partnership with a subsidiary of Coventry Development Corp. of New York, CDC Houston.
Microsoft is preparing to open its second retail store in Houston at the mall on November 6.
Since first opening during 19787, the mall has undergone an expansion and two renovations. Its diverse range of tenants is what makes it so attractive to consumers.
The first H&M store in Houston was added to the mall, along with a New Era and Michael Kors boutique. The Art of Shaving opened in the mall during May of this year.
On the other side of the road from the mall, Nordstrom Rack has set up shop at Baybrook Square. The store, measuring 31000ft², is due to open next spring, being the fifth location to open in the Houston area.
Baybrook Square was anchored by Target, until it moved down the road and expanded. The center, measuring 295000ft² consists of more than 30 stores, including Office Depot, Sun & Ski Sports, Marshalls HomeGoods, DSW and Old Navy.
