Aquis Plaza Aachen to celebrate topping-out



Construction workers have raised the topping-out wreath on the construction of the shell of the shopping gallery at Aquis Plaza in Aachen.
This will be followed by the construction of the interior and the building of the center’s façade.
Ground was broken during May 2013 by the partners in the project, STRABAG Real Estate and ECE, for this €290m project.  Around 130 shops will be placed over three levels, with an overall sales area of around 29200m².  The catchment area of the center contains about 1.2m people and includes the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

The center is already 75% leased, to both national and international retailers.  Reserved, a Polish-based young fashion retailer will open its first store in Germany at Aachen.  Sport Scheck is also due to enter the center in a space of 2000m².  Other popular retailers include Jack&Jones, Only, Olymp, Vero Moda, G –Star and Parfümerie Becker.  

Customers’ daily needs will be satisfied by a big Rewe supermarket and a drugstore.   The largest tenant in the center will be Saturn, a specialist consumer electronics store. Consumers will have the facility of a food court containing 12 different concepts and other food retailers will be spread across the center.  

The center will integrate very carefully into the current city center environment with consideration for architectural and urban aesthetics.  Light has been given special attention and shop facades will stretch over two floors, which is quite unique.

The center will be managed by Kathrin Landsmann.  There will be two entrances on Kaiserplatz and Adalberstrasse, with a third one on Adalbertsberg.  Public transport is available and sufficient parking spaces will be available.  The center is situated next to B264 and can be reached easily on freeways A544, A44 and A4.
