The new store opens on the grounds of The Grove mall in Los Angeles.
Apple announced the opening of a new store in Los Angeles, created in partnership with British architectural firm Foster + Partners. The store is located on the grounds of The Grove shopping center. Visitors enter the retail space, surrounded by trees, through massive glass doors.
Apple The Grove (also called Apple At The Grove by Foster + Partners) is twice the size of the company's other mono store in the area. The rectangular building is enclosed on all sides by glazed facades, and the main entrance consists of two 3 x 9.6-meter sliding doors, which are open to the outside for most of the year for natural ventilation of the space.
The new store was built to high eco-standards. In particular, the skylights installed to increase the amount of daylight indoors and reduce the use of electric lighting. Live trees are planted both outside and inside the store, creating the feeling of a natural grove. In addition, the space is distinguished by a full-length mirrored ceiling.
"The original concept was to create the most enjoyable and stimulating environment for everyone by taking the trees from The Grove through the store to West 3rd Street, an exceptionally spacious and light-filled area designed to explore the incredible range of Apple products," commented Foster + Partners representative Stefan Behling. According to the specialist, the store is the quintessential Apple experience, combining "the outdoor lifestyle with creativity and innovative spirit."
In addition to the store's interior, the store has the usual layout, which includes an open display of products on wooden stands and tables and shelves with products, seating areas, and customer support areas. In addition, the store has an open forum for workshops for creative clients.
