Amazon Salon will officially open to the public in the coming weeks.
Amazon has announced the opening of its first beauty salon - a site in London that will showcase the latest technology, products, and services in hair care. Amazon Salon is located in a 140 square meter space on Brushfield Street in Spitalfields.
Among the services Amazon will offer its customers at the beauty salon are hair consultations using augmented reality technology and "spot styling." Customers will enjoy entertainment on Fire tablets and capture their new look in a particular creative area. The salon will provide a QR code scanning service, an information display for the virtual showcase, and instant ordering for home delivery to purchase professional hair care products.
Neville Hair & Beauty owner Elena Lavagni has been invited to join the salon as a grooming and styling expert. "The salon combines classic hair services with technology to provide clients with a unique experience. Our creative team of stylists, whose flair for hair is as intrinsic as their love of technology, will put the client at the center of everything they do," commented Lavagni.
"We created this salon to allow customers to experience some of the best technology, hair care products, and stylists in the industry," commented John Bumphrey, Amazon's UK regional manager. The site will test new technology in "collaboration with the industry," he said.
Amazon Salon is open in test mode only to employees in the first phase but will be officially opened to the general public in the coming weeks. The company stresses that the project will not be scaled - the London showroom will be a one-of-a-kind experimental site.
