Ralph Lauren has opened its fifth U.S.-based store in the Galleria, Houston.
The store is situated in Galleria I, between Louis Vuitton and Zara. Ralph Lauren is well-known for its menswear lines, but, during the early part of this year, it launched a women’s collection. Polo Ralph Lauren stores can be found in New Jersey, Las Vegas, New York and East Hampton.
The Galleria is experiencing an influx of designer stores. H&M became a tenant of a 23000ft² store during November. This is the group’s fourth Houston location.
The renovations currently taking place at the Galleria will result in Saks Fifth Avenue moving into a 198000ft² area during 2016. The 11000ft² space it formerly occupied will become available to new stores. Vera Bradley is due to take over a new 2303ft² area in the building. Rockport, Pac Sun and Steve Madden’s stores are also undergoing renovation currently.
Not only are more retailers attracted to the Galleria, but real estate developers are also showing interest. At West Alabama and Sage, a 325-room Hyatt Regency has broken ground, with a proposed opening during late 2015.
Slightly north, close to the junction of San Felipe Street and Westcreek Lane, Randal Davis Co. is developing a luxury condominium high-rise.
During May, four large luxury retailers, Tom Ford, Dior, Cartier and Hermès, signed tenancy agreements in the River Oaks District.
Other developments include a $1bn renovation project at Uptown Park, and a $275m, 650000ft², mixed-use development on Westheimer Road is due to proceed.
