A cybersports arena will open at Mall of America

The center is scheduled to open in the first quarter of next 2021.

Mall of America, one of the pioneers in attractions such as family amusement parks and aquariums, is exploring a new way to open a significant cybersports arena with a gaming room and broadcasts.

Forbes writes that signing a lease with Wisdom Gaming is the beginning of a new era of malls in live video game broadcasts. In the future, such entertainment may become an integral part of malls. 

Wisdom Gaming plans to create an arena where live cybersports competitions can be held in front of a studio audience and other gaming events. The approximately 1,700-square-foot space, located on the mall's fourth floor, will include a gaming lounge with food and beverages and a branded store. The center is scheduled to open in the first quarter of next year.

Wisdom Gaming also plans to take advantage of the opportunity to host significant cybersports events at TCF Rotunda, the mall's outdoor venue, which is typically used for concerts and celebrity appearances.

"The flexibility and scalability are what appeals to us most about partnering with Mall of America," commented Nicole Du Cane Spencer, vice president of sales and partnerships at Wisdom Gaming. For its part, Mall of America said the mall can leverage Wisdom Gaming's expertise to make the complex "a premier destination for guests and global cybersports fans."
