MAPIC is celebrating its 20th year in retail property and can look ahead with a prospective and retrospective view of the global property marketplace.
It will place focus on two of the main retail property regions, the US and China, based on the confidence in the changes occurring in the industry. The International Retail Property Market, organized by Reed MIDEM, will take place in Cannes from November 19 to 21.
MAPIC is set to celebrate its 20 years in the business by hosting a conference titled ’20 Years Back – 20 Years Forward’, which will offer an overall view and perspective of retail brands and shopping centers. The first day of debate, November 19, will focus on shopping centers and the key speakers involved are: Klaus Striebich (managing director of leasing at ECE Projektmanagement GmbH & Co. KG, Germany), Laurent Morel (CEO of KlC Pierre, France), Sandeep Mathrani (CEO of General Growth Properties Inc., USA).
On Thursday, November 20, the focus will be on retail brands and hosted by: (Sohail Shaikh, director of international development at Mothercare PLC, UK), Alain Afflelou (CEO of Alain Afflelou, France).
MAPIC will consider the changes during recent years in the main national markets and highlight the two main countries in commercial real estate. China is experiencing excellent growth and focus will be placed due to the increase in shopping center needs and digital commerce. The US has been a leader in the retail property market for many years and is a trendsetter.
American Management is set to reveal its American Dream project. This is set to be the largest shopping center globally, located 40 kilometers from Manhattan, and hopes to attract in excess of 40 million visitors annually. Focus will be placed on these new players in the market at the MAPIC Digital Summit, which is scheduled for the day prior to the show.
