The new, innovative website will be a playground for anyone who wants to experiment with the design of their homes.
IKEA joins forces with the SPACE10 innovation lab, which was founded by the Swedish retailer itself and operated as an independent research and design company.
The new project will create
Everyday Experiments web platform. It will bring together 18 innovative experiments in the digital field, including developments in augmented reality, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and other areas.
New technologies aim to help customers get a fresh perspective on the design and renovation of their rooms, apartments, houses, and offices. The goal of the project is not just to place furniture in a virtual space, but to awaken the user to new directions of thought and give impetus to ideas about the transformation of space.
One of such experiments will be Point and Repair. With his help, the user can point the camera of his device at an old, worn-out piece of furniture and explore what the options might be for its restoration. Using the Techno Carpenter experiment, users can create their unique pieces of furniture using both augmented and virtual reality technologies. Extreme Measures experiment will fill a room with virtual colored elephants, which can be expanded to showcase the size of the space in the room.
