McDonald’s could change the future of the fast food market with its fully automatic restaurant concept. The technologically advanced concept is being tested in Fort Worth, Texas. In the new restaurant, which focuses on take-out orders, all operations, from pick-up to delivery, are handled by automated systems.
“When you step inside the test restaurant concept, you’ll notice it’s considerably smaller than a traditional McDonald’s restaurant in the U.S. The features both inside and outside are geared toward customers who are planning to dine at home or on the go.” McDonald’s said in a statement.
The restaurant has a special pre-order line that customers can use to get their food right off the conveyor belt. Inside, there is also an order-taking room for couriers. In addition, the institution is equipped with kiosks for placing orders and shelves for their delivery. Separate seats are designed for motorists.
Even though the restaurant is almost entirely automated, it still employs McDonald’s employees. They handle the cash register and food delivery on the conveyor belt, as well as helping robots prepare orders to improve the customer experience.
“The technology in this restaurant not only allows us to serve our customers in new, innovative ways, it gives our restaurant team the ability to focus more on order speed and accuracy, which makes the experience more enjoyable for everyone,” commented Keith Vanecek, the franchisee operating the test restaurant.
The collaboration translated into unique designs on hoodies, t-shirts and skateboards.
The launch of the new set is the first McDonald's McNugget Buddy in more than 25 years.
