Elisen Park

Elisen Park is a retail park serving the community of Anklam in western Pomerania, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, on the Peene river south of the Greifswald coastal region. The park provides large-format retail for Anklam’s approximately 13,000 residents and the surrounding rural catchment of western Pomeranian communities along the Baltic coast hinterland.

Anklam is a small city in western Pomerania notable as the birthplace of the aviation pioneer Otto Lilienthal, whose experimental glider flights in the 1890s preceded the Wright Brothers’ powered flight. The city’s agricultural and light industrial economic base serves the Pomeranian hinterland between Greifswald and Neubrandenburg. The Elisen Park’s large-format retail park provides the category retail that Anklam’s compact town centre cannot accommodate: food hypermarkets, DIY and home improvement, and general merchandise in a car-accessible format with extensive surface parking. The rural western Pomeranian catchment extends the draw beyond Anklam’s limited residential base to the farming and fishing communities of the Peene valley and the Baltic coast hinterland.
