The Alstertal-Einkaufszentrum (AEZ) in Hamburg is a prime shopping center and is considered to be one of the most attractive and modern shopping centers in Europe. It is also one of the oldest shopping centres in Germany, first opening in 1970 – but one that has successfully adapted to constantly changing consumer and market demands. In its most recent refurbishment, the brand and tenant mix was optimized with the addition of Apple, Hollister and Gosch, among others. In 2007, the latest comprehensive modernization and extension was completed.
Here, shopping and strolling becomes a special experience. 240 shops offer everything from clothing, accessories, jewellery and restaurants – including internationally renowned fashion houses and boutiques such as Aigner, Lacoste, Hollister, Peek & Cloppenburg, Strenesse Blue or Wolford and Zara, as well as meeting places from Starbucks to Gosch Sylt.
In direct vicinity to the Alstertal-Einkaufszentrum is the city train station Poppenbüttel with the lines S1 and S11 as well as a bus terminal. This traffic junction is used by around 60,000 peoples each day.
Directly at the AEZ stop the bus lines 8 and 24 (metro busses), 174, 175, 176, 178, 179 and 270.
The Alstertal-Einkaufszentrum can be easily reached by car from the surrounding areas via the freeways A1 and A7 as well as the highways B432, B434 and the beltway 3.

The Alstertal-Einkaufszentrum in Hamburg was extended and restructured in 2007, remaining open for business throughout. Attractive cosmopolitan squares complete with sculptures, cafés, restaurants, water features and much green were created in front of the new entrance portal. The artistic illumination concept for the outer facade underlines the vibrant character of this city quarter. The interior of the center is dominated by light natural stone with highly contrasting inlays in combination with dark wood and stainless steel lesenes.
