Kohl’s, large American supermarket chain, has announced the start of cooperation with Planet Fitness, the franchisor, and operator of fitness centers.
Kohl’s representatives told reporters that the innovation is intended “to improve customer service and increase traffic in stores.” From now on, visitors to supermarkets will be able to do not only shopping but also sports. It was announced that in 2019, 10 training centers will be opened adjacent to Kohl’s stores. They will have an area of about 2000-2500 square meters. Kohl’s will also expand the assortment of clothes presented, large items will be added to it, and Nike’s production will be a very good move, as it is often difficult for people with non-standard shapes to find suitable things for themselves to play sports.
All this is being done as part of Kohl’s new marketing strategy. The company begins to actively position itself as a “wellness center for the whole family.” The network has already presented a pilot program with the organization WW (formerly known as Weight Watchers), which specializes in healthy lifestyles and healthy nutrition. As part of the agreement, Kohl’s supermarkets will now be selling WW Healthy Kitchen products — food, kitchenware, etc.
Today in the United States and some neighboring countries there are already about 1,700 Planet Fitness clubs. They are mainly aimed at casual and novice visitors and are present in many large and small shopping centers (it is not without reason that this is good for increasing the attendance of the latter). This is the fastest growing franchise of fitness centers in the country.
