French fashion house Hermès announces the opening of its store in Wuhan. The luxury retailer’s two-level flagship is located in Wuhan Plaza 66, a shopping center specializing in high-end global brands.
The design of the new retail space is inspired by the interiors of the famous Hermès monostore on rue Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris. The concept was developed by RDAI architectural bureau, a longtime partner of Hermès.
The exterior of the new store is distinguished by modern ceramic tiles of ochre color, referring to the well-known Hermès packing. Inside, the boutique features ochre and brown marble floors and objects dedicated to the Yangtze River flowing in the city. Another highlight of the project are holes in the walls for natural light to penetrate.
The new flagship will feature 16 product categories of the iconic French brand, including rosewood furniture and accessories. On the top floor of the store are collections of men’s and women’s clothing and shoes, as well as the fashion house’s famous leather accessories. In the special V.I.P. zone, the walls are decorated with hand-painted silk fabrics, while the jewelry department features Japanese-style wall coverings.
To celebrate the store’s opening, Hermès will present its customers with rare items, including a pink Kelly Doll bag and a Picotin Lock Micro bag with a floral print.
