PROFITsystems grew from a need for a software solution in our own retail furniture store. This led to the first industry specific software for furniture retailers. Now over thirty-five years later, PROFITsystems is the leading software provider for the retail furniture industry.
PROFITsystems’ roots in the retail furniture industry go back more than a century. In March, 1897, Frank Stark started it all by opening a family furniture business in LaJunta, Colorado. To put that into perspective: Alexander Graham Bell had just turned 50 years old and his telephone was just beginning to be selectively installed throughout the United States. The Wright Brothers would not make their historic flight for another 6 years!
While the Stark’s family business continued to thrive decade after decade, they were never ones to rest on their laurels. In the 1960s, Ed and Larry Stark, knowing there was a better, more efficient way to run their family operation, created their own automated system on one of IBM’s very first computers, the IBM System-2. PROFITsystems was born. By the late 1970s, Stark’s Furniture was fully automated themselves and helping other stores increase profits with their unique software package.
The Starks knew early on that retailers needed more than just a software package to be successful. They developed the industry’s only Total Retail Success System that included business consulting, performance groups, education, and other services.
Today, PROFITsystems’ flagship product, RETAILvantage, is the #1 choice of furniture retailers. It provides the most comprehensive suite of retail furniture software for inventory management, point of sale, distribution management, accounting, business analytics, and customer relationship management in the industry. PROFITsystems has helped over 700 retailers improve productivity and increase profits.
