Anchored by Walmart and Safeway, Parks West Mall serves the 10,000 residents of Hinton and an additional population of 25,000 within its trading area from Edson through Jasper. Developed in 1990, Parks West Mall was acquired by Anthem Properties in 1998. In 2005, Anthem invited Kimco Realty Corporation (a leading US REIT specializing in neighbourhood and community shopping centres) to share ownership of Parks West Mall along with other properties in Anthem’s Western Canadian shopping centre portfolio. Anthem continues to manage Parks West Mall under the supervision of mall manager, Sherry Pitre. The financial strength provided by Anthem’s partnership with Kimco has enabled the revitalization of Parks West Mall which will see the addition of 2 new national tenants over the course of 2009.
