U.S. fast-food giant Burger King will support small, independent restaurants in the U.K. affected by the pandemic and restrictive measures taken during the crisis. The company announced that it would begin using its official Instagram account to promote third-party restaurants for free.

Burger King UK announced plans to support small businesses after the U.K. government announced new restrictions. Officials announced a maximum business blocking level in London and other regions in the south. All cafes, bars, and restaurants will be closed for service after large cities move into a “level three” danger zone to prevent the virus’s spread. According to the government decree, caterers will only be able to operate takeout and delivery services.

“There are many wonderful dishes from thousands of restaurants that deserve as much fame as Whopper. As we head to the third tier in different parts of the country, it’s becoming clear that independent restaurants need all of our support,” this post appeared on Burger King UK’s official Instagram page.

The company noted that small independent restaurant owners would advertise on the page for free until they reopen. To participate in the offer, you need to post with the hashtag #WhopperAndFriends. Burger King will re-post the post on its own Instagram page, which has 30,000 followers. Burger King has previously noted unusual actions, calling on its customers during the crisis to order their products and support competitors – McDonald’s, Taco Bell, and KFC.
