At the end of last week in New Jersey, there was a long-awaited opening of the shopping and entertainment center American Dream, one of the most expensive development projects in retail real estate in recent years. Construction of the mall was first announced in 2003 but was suspended several times, and control over the project was transferred to the new owners.
The total area of the mall is about 2 million square meters. According to the concept, 55% of the complex will be given for entertainment, while trade will take 45% of the space. Among the tenants will be both mass-market brands headed by H&M and Zara, as well as luxury brands – Hermes, Dolce & Gabbana, Tiffany & Co.
As reported by CNBC, within the first phase of the mall, visitors were welcomed by the theme park Nickelodeon Universe and ice rink, shortly they will be joined by Legoland Discovery Centre. Until the end of the year in the composition of American Dream will open like a water park and snow tracks. About 450 shops are expected to open in the shopping gallery. The volume of investments in the project is estimated at $5 billion.
It is expected that the full capacity of the mall will be reached by the second quarter of 2020 when the majority of tenants will open. It is predicted that the attendance of the complex will be up to 40 million people per year. On an opening day, 2500 people visited the mall.
