Abercrombie & Fitch Enters Clothing Resale Market

Abercrombie & Fitch

The two companies have announced a partnership that allows consumers to exchange obsolete or only annoying clothing and accessories for gift vouchers. The latter can be used to get discounts when buying new brands such as Abercrombie, Abercrombie kids, Hollister, and Gilly Hicks.

To get the discount, the consumer needs to fill out a unique form on the ThredUp website and then send the casual clothes to the specified address. Once the garments have been received, processed, and their value has been determined, a certificate will be sent to the specified address. It is noted that these may be the clothing of any brand, not necessarily from Abercrombie & Fitch.

Instead of being simply thrown away at already full dumps, the old clothes will serve someone else. In other words, there is an opportunity to do a good deed and, at the same time, take part in the preservation of the environment.

According to Fran Horowitz, CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch Co., this cooperation will allow the company to become more environmentally friendly, which is becoming increasingly important for modern consumers. And James Reinhart, co-founder, and CEO of ThredUp said that his company is delighted to see Abercrombie & Fitch on the list of its partners, which already includes other major retailers like Gap.

In 2019 alone, ThredUp took in 100 million different items, which prevented about 870,000 tons of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere.
