£100m redevelopment for Watford shopping center

The one million square foot into Watford Shopping Center is owned by the retail specialist, into, who has also acquired the Charter Place retail site, adjacent to the center.  Charter Place will undergo a partial build and full renovation as an extension to the center.
BAM beat McAlpine, Wates and John Sisk to this deal.
The integration of the two shopping centers will result in one 1.4m sq ft leisure, dining and retail venue.
BAM has been given the job of design development for the extension, including the demolition of the old section, refurbishing the current car park, and some of the new build.
The regional director of into, Rebecca Ryman, said that the redevelopment project will transform this town into one of the top leisure and retail destinations, placing it decisively into the top 20 UK retail rankings.  She said BAM’s role in the extension will be important in creating the right environment for retailers.
This redevelopment will create 500 construction jobs in the area.
