Leroy Merlin is a home-improvement and gardening retail chain working in thirteen countries. Established on the outskirts of major towns and cities, Leroy Merlin stores are big centers (9000 m2 on average) providing self-service and sales assisted services. Its business is concentrated on six main sectors: DIY, building, gardening, sanitary equipment, renewable energy, and interior decoration.
In 1923, Adolphe Leroy and Rose Merlin, associates in private and business life, opened a business of American surplus. Strengthened by this first success, they decided to sell DIY products and supplies at moderate prices. In 1960, the firm was named Leroy Merlin. It became a precursor, as it was the first company to offer free delivery services. As the founding enterprise of the GROUPE ADEO, Leroy Merlin specializes in sales of products and solutions and, in doing so, makes a unique commitment: to provide home improvement solutions tailored to each customer’s specific needs.
Leroy Merlin is the fourth-largest actor in the world in the do-it-yourself industry, the second-largest in Europe and the largest in France. In total, the company's retail network extends to more than 200 stores. LEROY MERLIN started up its activity in Poland in 1994, with the first store opening in 1996 in Piaseczno near Warsaw. Currently has 46 large-format stores, which are located in urban centers throughout the country. Leroy Merlin stores operate as stand-alone outlets or within shopping center structures or retail parks.
