Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the national security adviser and deputy chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, officially opened the Yas Mall on November 19.
This is the biggest entertainment and shopping destination in Abu Dhabi. It was developed by Aldar Properties, measures 2.5 million sq ft and hosts international, regional and local retail brands. It offers vehicle drivers 10000 covered parking spaces.
The mall stretches over three floors, with 370 stores, including 60 international restaurants and 83 unique-concept stores. These will include the biggest Debenhams outside of Britain, the first Hamleys toy store within Abu Dhabi, Angelina and Cheesecake Factory outlets, Rogo’s Rollercoaster Restaurant and the first Lego Concept store within the region.
It offers visitors 20 VOX cinemas and a family entertainment area by Fun Works.
The opening of the mall comes only one day before the commencement of the 2014 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and should attract many race attendees, as well as huge numbers of visitors over the festive season.
The main target of the Yas Mall is residents and tourists. It expects to attract about 20 million visitors during the first 12 months of business.
The executive director of asset management at Aldar Properties, Talal Al Dhiyebi, said the residential communities within the area have not had many facilities previously and their custom will be drawn into the mall.
