The center hits the significant milestone and opens 25 stores, including a new 156,000 square foot Macy's.Westfield Century City is cruising along towards a grand opening this Fall, but the massive $1 billion modernization and beautification project has just reached a significant milestone. Just last week, some new shops and restaurants opened at the property, as well as many public areas and beautifully landscaped open-air plazas.
The new Westfield Century City, located in Los Angeles, California, has designs on creating an open-air space that’s revolutionary for the Southern California market. The project is scheduled to open in phases throughout the year, and it will encompass roughly 1.3 million square feet upon completion that will include over 200 shops and restaurants.
On April 6, a new 156,000 square foot modern two-level Macy's opened on site. The new Macy’s features the iconic retailers most elevated shopping environment and merchandise assortment. Also included among the store openings for phase one were Aritzia, Bailey 44, Catimini, Cole Haan, Cotton On, Everything But Water, Kendra Scott, MAC Cosmetics, Oak + Fort, Origins, Steve Madden, Swarovski, Ted Baker London and Travis Mathew.
"There is no doubt that Westfield Century City will be a destination unlike anything else in Los Angeles. We're tremendously excited to welcome guests for a first look at the new center as we work towards our grand opening this Fall," said William Hecht, Westfield's Chief Operating Officer in the United States.
Additional phases of the project will include a completely remodeled three-level Bloomingdale's, and a new three-level Nordstrom featuring exciting new design concepts. Coming later this Spring will be a new luxurious Equinox fitness club and spa, while foodies will be excited to learn that the West Coast's first Eataly location will be opening on the site later this year.
The remainder of the retail and restaurant lineup reads like a veritable who’s who. On the retail side, names such as Bonobos, R.M. Williams and Zadig et Voltaire will join a tenant lineup that already includes Apple, Tesla and The Container Store. For dining options, future additions include La Colombe Coffee, Panini Café, and California Pizza Kitchen, which will complement existing options that include RockSugar Pan Asian Kitchen and Toscanova and Obicà.
Add it all up, and residents and visitors in the Southern California area have a lot to be excited about. Westfield began the massive modernization project back in 2015, and it sounds like things are right on schedule for its fall grand opening.
