The company creates simpler and faster returns process with its app.Walmart is focusing attention on returns, with the introduction of Mobile Express Returns – an industry-first experience that combines Walmart’s locations with the app to make returning an item fast and easy.
The new returns process will be available starting in early November for items sold by Walmart.com, followed by store purchases in early 2018. Walmart is also going to create a similar returns process for items sold by third-party sellers on the website.
“We know that returning an item and waiting for a refund, especially for a product purchased online, isn’t always seamless, so we’ve completely transformed the process for our customers,” told Daniel Eckert, Senior Vice Presiden of Walmart Services and Digital Acceleration. “By leveraging our physical stores and the Walmart app, we’re changing the returns game in ways that only Walmart can do.”
Using Mobile Express Returns, consumers can complete the returns process in just two steps: initiate the return via the Walmart App by selecting the item to return and finish the Return at the store.
Refunds will be credited to customers’ account on the next day, and clients will no longer have to send off their goods and wait for an online return to being credited.
ALso, as early as December, customers returning select pieces will see an option in the Walmart app allowing them to instantly take their refund without even making a trip to the store to return the item physically. This offer will initially be available on picked household items, such as shampoo and color cosmetics, with other things to be added over time.
That is the third offering announced this year by Walmart and comes at a time when the company is doubling-down on innovation within the app to deliver a more combined shopping experience. Mobile Express Money Services is now open chainwide, and Mobile Express Pharmacy will be open nationwide later this year. Also, according to a study by InfoScout, Walmart Pay currently ranks as the No. 2 mobile wallet, despite starting chainwide only 16 months ago, and now offers customers instant access to their Walmart credit card.
