SingPost to develop Singapore’s first shopping mall with eCommerce logistics services.
The new mall will be located at the Singapore Post Center (SPC) and will offer a mix of online e-merchants and offline brick-and-mortar shops all under one roof. The emphasis is on providing shoppers with greater conveniences, varied choices, and more personalized experiences. E-merchants will permit in-shop online ordering and offer premium flexibility in pickup timings and delivery.
The shopping mall is estimated to cost $107.43 million in its construction, and will offer a retail space covering 25,000 square meters. It will be completed in 2017, and will be located at the present open concourse in front of the Singapore Post Center, next to Paya Lebar MRT station.
The retail mall structure will have four aboveground levels and one basement, several retail outlets, food and beverage shops, an eight-hall Cineplex, and SingPost’s flagship post office. In addition, the mall will have three levels of underground parking space.
The retail experience is poised to change with the new shopping mall for both retailers and consumers. In a classic example, a shopper may purchase a product in-store, and arrange for direct delivery of the product to their home. The shopper would then not have to carry bulky bags about while he or she may continue shopping, have a meal, or watch a movie. On the flip-side, the retailer will save on storage space in the store, as fulfilment for such orders would be done at the backend of the warehouse.
