Multi Netherlands kicks off the major city center project in Rotterdam.FORUM located between Rotterdam’s most famous shopping streets, Coolsingel, Binnenwegplein, Lijnbaan and the "Koopgoot." Once complete, it will comprise 64,000 sqm of space for shops, food & beverage outlets, offices and 103 apartments.
“FORUM will breathe new life into a well-known, extremely dominant location in Rotterdam’s core shopping district, and give Rotterdam’s city center a new face," stated Managing Director at Multi Netherlands and Belgium, Francoise Dechesne. "This is a major multi-functional redevelopment and a perfect example of the transformation and intensification of the use of space in a city center.”
The shops on the Lijnbaan, which house the brands Hollister, G-Star, and ICI Paris XL, will be rebuilt with a new facade and a revised layout, to give new and existing tenants the chance to preview products to the center’s guests. A new Primark store will remain the center of this project, within the construction on the Coolsingel, the shop on the Lijnbaan and will run from the "Koopgoot" right into the original Jungerhans building on the Binnenwegplein central square. Five Guys, American hamburger chain, will open a restaurant on the "Koopgoot" side of the project.
Part of the improvement includes the eye-catching listed building on the Coolsingel. ABN AMRO will return to this area with offices and a bank. The traditional Rotterdam bookshop Donner is already situated in this building and will relocate to its final location with entrances on the Coolsingel, and the Binnenwegplein central square. This new two-story shop will be the largest bookshop in the Netherlands. We will also welcome some new shops on the ‘Koopgoot’ side of the building.
The project requires a total investment of around EUR 195 million. FORUM will be finished in various phases throughout 2019.
