La Plaza set to reopen during January 2015

Management working to attract proper mix of tenants for boutique shopping center at La Jolla, near San Diego, California.
Construction is going ahead on the former Jack’s La Jolla restaurant and nightclub complex, which is due to open during January 2015 as La Plaza La Jolla boutique shopping center. Early this summer it was announced that Catania Italian-style restaurant will occupy the third-floor prime corner space.  However, Davlyn Investments, the owner of the building, has not released any details on the other occupants in the 27000ft², three-storey building, located on the corner of Girard Avenue and Wall Street.

Davlyn has given assurance that a range of national brand retailers have taken up leases at La Plaza.  There has been a lot of interest in tenancy, but Davlyn’s CEO, Jon Williams, is determined to find the most suitable tenants.

To make access easier, Williams has added an elevator on the Girard Avenue side of the center, allowing access to all the levels.  A clock tower has also been added, and walkways and stores widened.

Davlyn is hoping that the historic Moroccan and Spanish influence will attract shoppers. The owner of Catania, Arturo Kassel, is planning to hold a soft opening during January and open Catania to the public during early February.  He has signed a 10-year lease, with the option to renew for a further 20 years.
