Glossier with Nasty Gal, Internet-based brands will teaming up next month for a pop-up shop.WWD reports that Emily Weiss will bring Glossier to Sophia Amoruso's new Nasty Gal outpost in Santa Monica for a brief stay from June 5th through 7th. This is second pop-up collaboration for this beauty brand's; the first was a pop-up at Everlane this past winter. At Glossier's Nasty Gal pop-up, shoppers will be able to buy products and get "make-unders" too.
Weiss said that meeting customers drives Glossier's innovation, and that a permanent store is also under consideration. "It’s something that we’re really eager to pursue. It’s not something that’s in the pipeline for the coming few months or probably not even this year, but we definitely want to experiment with different offline activations and standalone retail," Weiss told.
Weiss may just as well consult with Amoruso about the transition to brick-and-mortar, since Nasty Gal just opened two Southern California stores.
As for future Nasty Gal store expansion, Amoruso said the two locations are definitely test cases. "We’re just using these stores as a lab, in a way, for us to understand retail and get it right before we make a bigger splash," she said. When asked about Glossier's founder, Amoruso described Weiss as "funny, weird, and a real hustler."
