The latest of Melbourne’s big suburban shopping centers unveiled its major overhaul.Vicinity Centres and Perron Group have revealed the first stage of The Glen’s $460 million redevelopment in Melbourne’s south-east.
Opening fully leased, on schedule and budget, this stage includes a fresh food market hall with a new Aldi, Woolworths latest store format, a Coles supermarket and 60 boutique food retailers and specialty stores.

The update of The Glen has been under development since March 2017, and it is estimated that the scheme is creating 2,350 jobs including 1,150 jobs through the building and 1,200 ongoing retail, service and hospitality roles at the completed center.
Mr. Ross Robertson, Perron Group’s Chief Executive Officer, told: “This first stage delivers a vibrant, fresh food destination with produce, specialty stores and a plethora of casual dining options complementing the convenience of Australia’s three leading supermarkets – Aldi, Coles, and Woolworths.”
The next stage of The Glen’s transformation, a new up-to-date food gallery will be unveiled in early 2018, and the center’s complete change will complete by early 2020. Expanding to approximately 78,000 sqm of the GLA, ‘The New Glen’ redevelopment is creating a local lifestyle and community destination where retail, entertainment, and dining will give a premium consumer experience.
In extension to the fresh food market hall, the completed center will include two dining areas, a town square, a premium fashion shopping mall with David Jones, international and Australian brands, along with an exciting collection of daily fashion and lifestyle stores.
Residential developer, Golden Age Group will deliver the residential project of more than 500 apartments across three towers.
