The Range is a British home improvement retailer based in the United Kingdom. The company was started by Chris Dawson in 1980. Chris started the business as an open air market trader in the markets of South West England. Currently, there are 86 stores across the United Kingdom with a staff base of over 2,500. The first Range superstore was opened in 1989 at the Sugar Mill Business Park in Plymouth. 

The Range is a home improvement DIY store that offers a wide variety of products for the home and garden. The Range is one of the favorite DIY stores that is recognized for its exceptional variety of over 65,000 high-quality products. The stores have 16 departments including; furniture, DIY, lighting, homewares, garden, and arts & crafts. The company seeks to provide the mid-price home, garden, and leisure products at very affordable prices, yet at the same time not compromising on the quality of goods. 

In 2009, the company was ranked 121 on the Sunday Times Price Waterhouse Coopers top track. At that time the company was also ranked as one of the fastest growing enterprises in the UK. In 2014, the company opened its 98th store in Gloucester, and almost all The Range stores are located on retail parks.
