The Mall at University Town Center will have its grand opening on October 16.
It will reveal more than 100 dining and shopping stores, of which more than half will be unique to the market in Sarasota-Manatee.The $315m center, measuring 73 acres was a partnership development between Benderson Development Company, LLC and Taubman.
Aside from its anchors, Macy’s, Dillard’s and Saks Fifth Avenue, the mall will include top-end lifestyle and fashion retailers, including Tesla Motors, Crate & Barrel, lululemon athletica, Stuart Weitzman and Michael Kors, as well as restaurants, including Seasons 52, The Capital Grille and The Cheesecake Factory.
A range of fashion retailers making their local premieres at The Mall at UTC include:
- Michael Kors
- BCBG Max Azria
- Bebe
- Calypso St. Barth
- Vera Bradley
- Everything But Water, a swim and resort wear retailer from Florida
- OndadeMar, a luxury swimwear boutique
- Robert Graham, men’s outfitters
- Camicissima, shirtmakers
The following stores will open soon after the official opening day:
- J.Crew
- Janie and Jack, a children’s clothing brand
- Free People
- Peter Elliot
Local businesses, Tina Stephens and Jackie Z Style Co. will also be present at The Mall.

LUSH Handmade Fresh Cosmetics from the UK will be opening their first stores at the center.
