Low Income Residents Find Relief in New Mall Concept
There is a new concept being developed in the world of malls: a shopping complex known as the “People’s Mall”. It is being planned by the Tereng-ganu government, and would be in each district
where locals can buy products at the manufacturer’s price.
Even more novel is that the mall would cater to locals of the low income bracket so they could obtain quality products at an affordable price.
The idea is that the mall would be built at Kuala Berang with an allocation of RM4mil before the project took off in other areas. The state government, apparently, would procure products from small and medium entrepreneurs in the state and other states, to be sold at these malls. Products would be made locally, and would range from agricultural products to groceries to handicrafts.
Monetary aid and agricultural machinery worth RM50,000 will be given to local farmers, while other money would be used to help the poor through various initiatives run by the state government.
