Uniqlo to open 11 new stores across Texas and California

Uniqlo, a global retailer known for its LifeWear clothing line, is set to expand its presence in the United States by opening stores in Texas and California. This move aligns with the company's goal of reaching 200 stores in North America by 2027.

Expansion plans

Uniqlo will be opening 11 new stores across Texas and California as part of its broader expansion strategy. The company aims to launch over 20 stores in North America this year alone. Notably, this marks Uniqlo's first venture into Texas, with planned locations in Houston and Dallas. Additionally, new stores are scheduled to open in Sacramento, San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

Future growth

With 74 existing stores in North America and over 2,400 locations worldwide, Uniqlo envisions having 200 stores in North America by 2027. This expansion plan was initially announced in December, alongside intentions to increase store counts in China, Southeast Asia, India, and Australia.

Customer-centric approach

Uniqlo's decision to enter the Texas market is driven by customer demand, according to Yoshihide Shindo, CEO of Uniqlo USA. The company's North American division achieved profitability in fiscal year 2022 and experienced significant growth the following year.

Commitment to the West Coast

In addition to expanding into Texas, Uniqlo reaffirms its commitment to the West Coast. Shindo highlights the strong interest from customers in the region and emphasizes Uniqlo's dedication to providing the full LifeWear experience.

Innovative technologies

As part of its expansion strategy, Uniqlo has introduced RFID technology to its supply chain operations and implemented self-checkout services. Takahiro Tambara, CIO of Uniqlo's parent company Fast Retailing, underscores the importance of RFID technology in enhancing the in-person customer experience.
