Don Don Donki Stores Conquer Asia

The Japanese retailer's largest store in Malaysia has opened at Tropicana Gardens Mall.

Malaysian holding company Pan Pacific Retail Management announced the opening of the country's second and largest Japanese goods store, Jonetz, by Don Don Donki. The approximately 3,900-square-meter store is located at the Tropicana Gardens Mall. 



Don Donki promises shoppers a "Japanese gourmet journey" through a food court seating for 170. The gastronomic space is equipped with corners that prepare in-store dishes, including delicacies from Osaka and Hokkaido. A special "Furu Furu" section also offers a wide selection of fresh seasonal fruits from Japan. And the cosmetics corner "Cosme Donki" provides a large selection of Japanese cosmetics. 



Japan's largest discount store chain, Don Quijote, which offers a wide variety of local products, from fresh produce to toys and accessories, operates in other markets in the Asia-Pacific region, including Singapore and Hong Kong under the Don Don Donki brand. 



The first store in Malaysia opened in early 2021. By 2024, the local partner of the Japanese retailer expects to launch eleven more large-format outlets in the country.
